For Deal families we are supposed to be getting an email today describing what IPL will look like for our child. Despite being asked the question many times last night during the zoom, I feel like I never got a clear answer from Ms. Neal. Something about how your child will be in a classroom with a caring adult whom they have a relationship either for in person instruction or virtual learning. She kept saying it isn’t a CARES classroom but I’m not sure i see the difference unless there is in fact in person instruction. I’m wondering if it varies by cohort? Or if she was trying to explain that one class period will be in person instructional and one by distanced learning (like Wilson) I wish she had just said that. It was like trying to nail down a politician.

Her teacher told me in Parent Teacher conferences that they have extra time after the virtual kids sign off that he uses to help if needed or just for social fun. He was suprised at how good that was for himself and the kids.

I feel the benefit is much higher for social then academic but even with one class a week IPL - my daughter says it is beneficial. Beyond happy that my Deal kid will get some IPL this spring.

+1. Even if they are just on laptops for instruction, there's a HUGE benefit just to getting up, going somewhere new, and being near other kids. Can't be understated.

I thought it was pretty clear that it was the Wilson model. In the room with one of their teachers who they get in-person instruction for that class, and then they stay in the same room for virtual teacher instruction with the next class on their schedule.

Yes, Neal was completely clear. Both my kids got one of their teachers but we are going to decline their spots. Too much to handle.

This is another good thing about the plan. If it ends up not working for your kid, they can just go right back to DL.
