Chapter books to read to 4-5 year olds

Not really. If the parents hates the book, they will find ways to read it less. I detest Dr. Seuss. My kids know I won't read them. Their father can read them or the older one can read it to the younger one.

At that age my son liked all Roald Dahl, except I didn't read him Matilda because I thought it was too creepy and sent the wrong message.

He adored Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. Thought it was hilarious. We read all the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books. He also liked Pippi Longstocking. And Charlotte's Web.

My kid is obsessed with the Owl Diaries but you will probably hate it. I do.

Now I’m curious, what kind of wrong message was in Matilda?
