Your favorite, most reliable brands and sources

Toto is good but I also like Gerber toilets. Kohler sucks at toilets. However, Kohler makes a massive 3-door medicine cabinet if you need that kind of storage.
If you are buying your own toilet, check out VAMAC wholesale in Manassas.

Grohe faucets and hardware are nice.

I like my Samsung dishwasher.

Our Frigidaire fridge is fine, nothing special but no issues yet.

I don't think brand name windows are anything special. Similarly, Budget Blinds does a great job.

I'm happy with our Trane HVAC but I've also heard they are made at the same place as other brands, not sure what is true.

Spring for ball valve shutoffs everywhere including under sinks, behind toilets, and at the washer hookup.

How can a toilet, any toilet let alone one from the most touted brand, last only four years?

Also want to know, my plumber said you can flush a bag of marbles down a Toto toilet and it’ll be okay. So wondering what the story is there!

The fill valve failed, as did the replacement. So we got to hear running water sounds 24/7. Not fun!

I have a family friend who does HVAC and he told me always go with Carrier.

I second the Toto toilet recommendation.

I have IKEA sinks and do not recommend. The sinks are fine (I mean how could it be bad) but the included faucets are crap.

I heard LG has the best front load washing machine, when I did my research a few years back. I have one now but it’s only a few years old so can’t speak to longevity.

LG for washers and dryers. Everyone I hear someone complaining about their front load on here, I know it’s not an LG

Miele vacuum.
Maytag refrigerator.
TileBar for tles. Great selection and not the everyday choices. Good prices.

The most comfortable bathtubs are by Jacuzzi, if a comfortable bathtub is important to you. I replaced ours and the new one is fine but I could fall asleep in the old ones.

+1. Toto is the only brand anyone should be looking at for toilets.

Yay! We have a Toto toilet on our new build and I remember thinking what brand is Toto.

Miele for vacuum
Toto for toilets
Dornbracht for faucets
Bainultra for tubs

Thanks all! What about fridges and ranges? I am by far the most obsessed with getting the kitchen right.

Our bathroom fixtures are Moen and they have held up really well. I think they're reasonably priced and good quality. I don't know if that has changed in recent years.

What is your price range?

All of our appliances are Whirlpool Gold (bought in the past few years) and all seem to be great quality.

Well, I'm not going to do a 40K Lacanache but totally fine with "normal" high end.

You let the water run 24/7? It takes a quick trip to Home Depot and five minutes to replace a fill valve. I’ve never had a toilet where the innards don’t leak occasionally and have to be replaced. I just taught my teen how to do it. If you really wanted to wait for a plumber you could have turned off the water valve behind the toilet.

What is so great about them? (I have a one piece from Kohler, easy to clean and does the job - would like to know what I am missing — not interested in bidet functions).

I don’t know exactly. We went toilet shopping with my dad and he was just adamant about Toto. He did say that the newer low flow toilets are getting better. So I think it has to do with the power of the flush.

It will flush anything!! Toto for life.

We do not like our Toto toilets, we have two. We renovated another bathroom a few years ago and went with an energy-efficient Kohler which works great and has held up great.

I’ve ordered mine from Amazon. One was delivered damaged and Amazon had a replacement out within two days...
