Salmon--where to buy fresh in MoCo?

Profish is the best. It is expensive, but you are getting the quality of seafood you would get from a top restaurant.

Super fresh always. Great experience with them. And their lax if home made is great.

You know there’s a whole fresh catch seafood market at the Wharf right?

The salmon at Wegman's is wild-caught and very good. I think it's better than the salmon at Whole Foods.

This. Wild salmon run just a few months every year. Unless you’re paying to have it air-shipped directly from the boat in Alaska in the summer (this can be done — it’s wonderful, but $$) when the Salmon are actually running, there is no such thing as fresh wild-caught salmon. However, I much prefer frozen wild-caught salmon to farm raised.

Do you think there is a salmon fisherman pulling up to the wharf and unloading his fresh catch?

I pick up the fish from Rodman’s on Saturdays. They have many pick up locations.

They are at the Bethesda farmers market (along with another fishmonger) on Sundays

Profish prices their salmon at farmer’s markets more than double the price when picking up from their truck. (Over $20 compared to $9 from what I recall.)
