Yep, I meant the 15-18 that choose hybrid. In our class only 3 stayed home.

Many, perhaps all, Ashburn middle schools are very empty. This is because Asians are disproportionately opting out.

Really? I thought Brambleton Middle has already said no more can add to hybrid?

This is crazy. Adults are still being told to stay 6 feet apart. They say high schoolers transmit it like adults.... So...

Why is 3 feet safe for high schoolers who transmit it as adult but not adults?

Why if community spread goes up do high schools and middle schools have to return to 6 feet, if it is safe but not elementary? And how do you return to 6 feet from 3 feet.

I am all for getting kids back in school but I don't want it if it isn't safe. I know some people will respond by simply say keep my kids home (which I am doing). But, I would like to believe I am getting accurate information about what is safe. I don't believe this new information is safe. I know there is a study from a school in Massachusetts. However, was that school an elementary school? My guess is yes which is why the guidance is staying at 3 feet even if community spread increases. But, they just don't know for middle school and high school and thus the extra step to say if cases in the community increases, that age great goes back to 6 feet.

I know it is too much to ask the government to be upfront but this kind of stuff is why people are having a hard time believing the government about the vaccine.

You are not crazy, PP. CDC does not explain this for secondary schools. I ask myself the same questions. I won’t send m MS and HS to school with 3 feet until rates are much much lower.

Isn’t it still 6’ for MS & HS? And cafeterias, etc.

I think 3’ is only in ES classrooms.

According to several studies, with a mask indoors, adults can be safe very close together. We've all forgotten that the original guidance was 6' or masks. There was a lot of fear that children and teens would not wear masks. But that's not the case. So 3' and masks is fine. Or even closer.

The new 3' distancing guidelines are fine. I'm very comfortable with them.

They may have said this as a kneejerk reaction that letting people in would send the numbers much higher. I would expect the actual people going in to be low.

I thought Eagle Ridge was at 40%, but the reality at least for my son's classes is generally just one student, no one in halls.
Perhaps there are classes he is not in that have higher capacity.
