You can always try the Smithsonian center. It is fabulous and has a really nice preschool education program that uses all of the museum facilities. The big caveat is that the waitlist/lottery process can be a monster! |
Honestly, I wouldn't bother with the Smithsonian program--I'm a Smithsonian employee and have been on the waitlist for 2 years! |
We toured the HUD daycare and were impressed. They have had turnover but it looks like they are getting more stable. They are supposed to have "nanny cams" as well installed in the coming weeks. We have some friends that have their kids there and they seem very happy.
Administration is slow to respond to emails, that is our only complaint. |
I did not choose to apply to the NSF Ballston. Under investigation for losing a DC in the atrium for 5 minutes and previous citation for taping a child to the wall. (You can look up complaints and reports for VA child care facilities on line.) The facility may have taken appropriate measures, but these two incidents put it off the list for me. |
Are there any other programs like the Smithsonian with the experience/object learning focus in the DC/NoVa area? I know it's hard to compare to the Nations Muesums.- Thanks , |
No, there are no other programs like the SEEC. The program at the American and Natural History Museums are the best in the area and the teachers are amazing. |
