| I would NOT recommend using Derick Dortch. He talks a good talk but his work product is awful. My DH used him and not only did he miss deadlines getting in some resumes but the resumes were awful - full of typos and they actually contained large sections of someone else's resume that were cut and pasted onto my DH's. And since he was working at the last minute, my DH didn't have the opportunity to review and correct the resume, so Dortch essentially submitted to a federal agency a falsified resume, as it contained accomplishments that were not my DH's. Had my DH gotten a job out of one of these, he would have been at risk for being fired for providing false information in support of his job application. The kicker is that Dortch did not think that he had done anything wrong and didn't really offer to do anything to rectify the problem. In the end, my DH got a small amount of his money back, but in my mind if you're running a service business and screw up that badly then you refund all of someone's money AND apologize profusely. |

I recommend the Resume Place.
Costs about $500, but worth it. |
| I had a bad experience with some woman (from Arlngton) a while back to help me write KSA. She was awful and was so afraid of not getting her money that she wouldn't show me the product to proof until she got paid (even though she had a down payment that covered the product). And she did a horrible job, was behind schedule and mean as shit. I was willing to give her lots of business but with that crazy attitude I had to stop working with her and do it myself. A complete waste of money. |
| OP - I'm not trying to be harsh but don't you think it's best to write fill out these applications yourself? I can understand having someone else proof them or looking for pointers on how to write good KSAs, but if you have to provide someone else with all of your information to begin with than writing them isn't much more work. |

Yes, Kathryn Troutman is awesome. I attended a seminar of hers held by DHS to help employees apply for higher level jobs. I was at a GS-12 & thanks to her found a GS-12 to 14 position that offers telecommuting. I am now a GS-14, telecommuting 80% of the work week. (I had applied for the same position prior to her seminar & did not even make the list). You can always just read her book - I think it is called the Federal Resume Guidebook if you want to save $$$. |
