We pay college kids $15/hr, but often round up

Just buy your kid some video games. best babysitter around

if you really just want someone to play with your kid I think $12 if more than fair for a HS kid for 3 hrs a day.

The PP who suggested $20/hour, cash, for a 14 year old is insane.

OP here. Thanks, everyone. We do have a few neighborhood kids in mind who are 14/15 and are interested. It doesn't involve driving/fees. Our neighborhood has a community pool which he's allowed to go (opens at 12), and lots of friends but we thought this would be nice to have 9-12 structured everyday with someone who can entertain him, allow us to work without distractions for 3 straight hours, and give him some non-tv based entertainment options. Our neighborhood has a lot of outside options for fun but I would feel better if he had someone older with him as well. I was originally debating between 10-15 an hour. This is all very helpful!

Why don’t you sign him up for some summer camps? Or find a family with similar age friend to swap off play dates with?

I think no more than $10/hour. More like $25 for the 3 hours. This sounds like a great job for a young teen in the neighborhood.

minimum wage is $15/hr
$25 for 3 hours is barely over $8/hr.

There are exceptions for under 18 employed less than 9 months.

We have this and pay $12/hour. She also folds all kids clothes and puts them away (which consequently was a seriously good decision to include in her tasks when I hired her). My kids are 2 and 5 years old.
