Manners matter

If your child is distracted because a person is eating then your child is an idiot.

They're going to have a hard life if they can't interview well because sometimes interviews occur over lunch. Poor things.

Is that MS?

Our ES AAP center starts at 9:45. That's justifiably considered late.

Yes, our AAP MSer starts at the asscrack of dawn. We have another one who starts at 9:45, but the proposition was that school started so late that eating is an abomination like all schools start at that time, which they do not.

I find this to be an incredibly stupid thing to be outraged over, given all that is going on. I guess I'm just glad OP's only bitching here and not making the teacher or the principal miserable with her petty complaints.

Maybe she needs to take a snack with a medicine.

Maybe she is newly pregnant and this helps with nausea.

Maybe she is trying to get pregnant and was told more frequent, small meals will help her gain necessary weight.

Maybe she was rushed and couldn’t get breakfast beforehand.

Maybe she has to work through lunch to help her students and she’s preparing for that.

I don’t see how this is a big deal at all. OP will make it a big deal for her kid, however, and that is the problem.

Maybe she could eat before or after instruction.

Maybe she doesn’t care how distracting it is. Maybe she could use critical thinking (that what AAP is mainly about).

Hi, OP!

Maybe Teachers don't have time and squeeze in eating when they can. Most of my Teacher friends have horror stories regarding lack of time to use the bathroom. With schedules being massively adjusted and kids needing to have the Teacher in the room more because they are not changing rooms, Teachers don't even have those gap minutes to grab a snack.

How about eating out of camera while students are working independently?

Because there would then be insufferable complaints about how the teacher was not on screen during instructional time that the OP’s taxes are paying for? Or something, something, outrage, something.

A bite here and there out of the camera take 3minutes. It gives time for burping.

I'm sure plenty do this, too. But there is nothing wrong if a teacher eats a bite here or there. My goodness...what are we dictators?

As long as they don’t eat in front of the camera and show what they have inside their mouth (as it has been happening, believe it or not), that’s fine with me. Students don’t need to see how disgusting is their teacher’s eating habits or see and hear the burping.

Hey, this is an Advanced Academic Program class, not a social outing. What’s next? Nose picking? C’mon, be professional and teach on.

I’m blessed to have received a good education. But it takes an educated village to raise children.

I agree. It is super distracting and unprofessional.
