Make sure that their hand is not pressed down on the table while they are being tested - I did that myself and I got a 91 and as soon as I lifted my hand up and relaxed it went back to 98. But yes, hospital if they’re being tested properly. |
Op, any updates? You should definitely go to the hospital if their reading is below 90. |
When my mother was in the hospital alarms sounded and a team arrived to address oxygen levels when her saturation dipped into the low 90s (not covid). |
That’s still really bad. |
People should not be using these at home if they are clueless. You would have already called 911 due to other symptoms if it was really 75. |
Anything below 89 should be taken to the hospital. You can crash pretty quickly. I'm guessing the OP posted then stopped checking thinking it's fine... |
My friend was told to go to the hospital if his dropped below 90%. |
I agree. It seems like nobody explained the if/then scenarios. That's a problem with being able to buy them off the shelf. |
So it's worse than not checking at all? That seems illogical. |
I think OP is playing with a bad broken meter made in China (even though almost ALL of them are made in China). |
People with COVID can act fine with surprisingly low oxygen readings. |
I know that is so odd. |
Use the oximeter in a well lit area. Also will read low if your hands are cold. Try it on someone else, make sure it works.
If it's still below 90, go to the ER. |
+1 and as one of the PPs noted, people with COVID can still seem okay while their oxygen is dropping to dangerously low levels. |
88 = hospital. Normal readings are over 95. |
