Have your kids been sick in the past year?

Nope, not even a sniffle in the last year.

Nope, not since last February. We too had half the school out sick last February, fever, headache, and sore throat, negative for flu and strep.

We normally go through kid's advil and adult cold medicine like crazy each winter. NOT ONE MED this past winter.

Not a single sniffle since last February. I just went through and cleaned out the medicine cabinet. Lot of unused meds.

Very minor sniffles a couple of times, plus a mild cough/sore throat once or twice. I'm not surprised, though, since I've been working outside the home with young children since July.

Nothing that I could be reasonably sure was communicable.

Very occasional "my head hurts" or "my tummy hurts." She's lactose intolerant though and may have some mild mold/dust allergies. That's it.

Same for me and DH.

She had what we thought was a tummy bug literally the week school closed down. That's probably what it was, though. I agree with a poster that noted that kids are usually asymptomatic w/COVID, so people whose kids were sick in Feb-- even if they tested negative for flu-- probably had something else. There are a lot of bugs!

COVID was already here in the US at that point. I've heard lots of speculating that the mysterious illnesses running rampant through schools last year may have included COVID as well as a bad strain of flu B.

I remember at one point in February, half my DC's K class was out. When I spoke to the teacher about catching up on stuff he missed, she was like "don't worry, half the class has been out." Some was flu, but ot other parents told me that they tested negative for flu.

Then again, all the anecdotes I've heard from parents whose kids were known to have had COVID were that the kids that age were basically asymptomatic (and my kids' school now tests weekly so we've had confirmed cases), so who knows?

I"m the top poster and I would love to know if it was COVID. At the time COVID tests and the antibody test weren't available and it's my understanding that the current antibody tests wouldn't give us any real answer. We live in NE and were in Boston at a tourist attraction very close to the BioGen conference at the same time as the conference, so we have a clearer source of infection than most people, but there isn't any way to know for sure. I still feel bad that I took my sick kid into a CVS to pick up tamiflu and everything was an s***show and she was lying on her backpack on the floor for an extended time while I tried to get her prescription filled.

When you get your shot- you will be able to know. If the 1st shot gives you horrible side effects, you've already had covid (and the 2nd shot will give you no side effects). If the 1st shot is nothing and the 2nd shot gives you side effects, you haven't had covid.

2nd shot doesn't give everybody side effects, but I have seen something similar - if you've had COVID, the first shot will behave like the second (and give you the same immunity as the 2nd). Not sure how true this is for the J&J vaccine, which is known to be milder than the mRNA ones.

One had the sniffles for a few days and was tired for a day back in October. Now I wonder if that was Covid. Nothing else
