In our school it’s no more than 12 or 13 in person.

Yes! Here is a way to find out the social distance capacity for every classroom at your child's school: https://www.apsva.us/maintenance/return-to-school-classroom-capacity/

Not to be a conspiracy theorist but the number of 3rd graders returning to my kid's class at McKinley is 18. Guess how many kids fit in every 3rd grade McK class? 18. No other school seems to have a classroom that comes even close.

My Kindergartener had 6 kids (including himself) when he went back today.

DS's first grade class is split into two rooms, with 10/12 in each room (even numbers to allow for partner work). The teacher stays in one room all day (switches to the other the next day), with the teacher's assistant in the other room. Interesting these numbers seem to be on the higher end, maybe because it's an option school so it stays filled.

Ours reported 8 in one classroom 7 in the other. Same kindergarten class.

why are kids only in school 2 times/week when it seems like some schools/classrooms are able to accommodate the hybrid kids with distance anyway??

Our class is split 14 in one room (large room previously used for specials) and 10 in another classroom.

Some is the operative word. Some schools are at 70% hybrid rates so cannot accommodate all days in person. Not equitable to have some schools go back for four days another only two days.

Our hybrid class is supposed be 21 children. 15 came to class this week. I’m guessing the answer is complicated. At our elementary it looks like most of our classrooms can accommodate an average of 13 students. So maybe it’s as much about actual attendance, they had to plan for what people asked for. I’m glad that we aren’t having to bus to schools that have more room. That would bother me more than having fewer days of in person instruction.

Forgot to add. The class is split between two rooms.
