When kindness is self-serving?

Kindness is self serving when:

Someone is masking their disorders
Someone is protecting their ego or image
Someone wants to brag about their disposable income
Someone actually has no demonstrated affinity to what they are doing but an ulterior motive (see above)
Someone was made to do it or promoted to do or reminded

Prompted to do it (ie do the kind act to get someone off their back, self seemingly)
