This is the most BS statement I've heard people talking these days.
Students' qualifications are wildly different even among those straight A students. An acceptance rate is just a concept of average but isn't the chance for everybody. An International Math Olympiad gold medalist would have much better chance for HYPSM than an otherwise average A person.


Agree. Colleges like Harvard want a ‘spike’ in the students extracurriculars. From what I had understood, if a student won or represents US in international Biology olympiad( 1 of the 4 participating team) , then he or she can have few ‘B’ in humanities courses.

+1 and legacies, donors, etc. Their advantage is much greater than URMs but they'd rather the unhooked focus on hating on the URMs rather than questioning legacy privilege.
