Which school districts will be 5 days in fall

A lot of blue states to the north have actually had schools open. This DMV area in particular just seems to be paralyzed with indecision and thus unable to formulate and execute a reopening plan. Just like we close for a flake of snow, we became paralyzed with fear over the pandemic so allowed schools to remain closed for a full year.

Very angry liberal parents about these calls. 60% of FCPS parents wanted to go back. I think people (rightfully) didn’t trust Trump or a Trump affiliated science. Without reliable data, they were scared to go back.

After that, blue states were frozen because of teachers unions. Which is infuriating, because we are supposed to be the party of investing in kids.

If you allow anyone to work from home it is really hard to get them to come back in to an office. I don’t imagine many teachers (not all) giving that up quickly. I don’t imagine many other employees giving it up quickly. I know some want to go back to the office but not sure I would say the majority.

How old are your kids? ES kids in Chesterfield went back 5 days/week February 1. Fauquier is hybrid now, but by 3/15 will have k-2 or k-5 in school 4 days/week; MS & HS will also be 4 days by April 4.

My money would be on Fauquier for 5 days in September.

If the lazy teachers vote no, then we won’t go back. Blame it on the lazy teachers! They want to stay on permanent taxpayer supported vacation! Time to end this experiment and get back to full time in person school. Masks optional. This is not working and there’s no reason for it to continue!

Chesterfield County (Richmond suburb) is 5 days k-5 right now. If we can’t get our kids into private school (waitlisted) and schools here don’t open, we will rent an apartment down there for the year. Not ideal, but we are not doing this again.

My eyes are wide open on the GOP. But because I’m not GOP, I’m not toeing the party line when my party is dead wrong and it hurts my kid. The Democratic Party is on the wrong side of this. The fealty to the unions over kids education and well being is about money and political power and its gross. And I am not following where the Dem party is leading on this.

It is dead occupies our country is in a bad state overall, pandemic aside, because we are locked into an outdated two party system in which no party ever has any incentive to improve or actually serve people. Politicians should be hounded literally every single day they’re in office. They should not be allowed to profit. It should be a SACRIFICE to be a representative not an enrichment scam. Yes. We are no longer a new nation and we need a parliamentary system, which by definition requires compromise across party lines to accomplish what the majority wants. But that’s not the constitution we have.

So, the start is getting big money out of politics. And while GOP is the big offender, VA’s relationship with teachers unions is about as toxic as TX’s relationship with big energy. And about as good for the citizens.
