Nanny here:
The outlet thing is super weird and would make me question her judgement if she did stuff like that a lot. That said, get outlet covers if you don’t have them. For diapers, I usually change when they get up in the morning, before we go out for an outing in the morning (so like 9-10am depending on the schedule), before lunch, before nap, after nap, before dinner and then before bed. |
? Do you wake your 1 year old up in the middle of the night to change their diaper? I am sound asleep. So is he. My kid goes 12 hours at night without a diaper change, but we don’t have rash issues. We do use lots of butt paste at night. |
Every 2 hrs tops and after every poop. Usually works out to before and after naps and before going outside. |
Diaper thing..with disposables I do not think you have to change them that often...every 90 minutes seems very frequent to me assuming no poop.
Outlet thing is really odd.. |
You need to change right away. At that age I was moving toward potty training and wanted the child to get used to being dry, not vice versa.
Your nanny sounds neglectful and odd. I would probably not hire a nanny who did this, and replace her if for some reason I hadn’t noticed it during the hiring period. |
Diapers checks & changes at minimum every 2 hours usually in a daycare setting. Poops changed ASAP. Typically 4-5 diapers a day at daycare.
The outlet thing speaks loud & clear about her lack of common sense. |
With a child that age, I would check the diaper every hr to hr and a half.
It is so lazy for your Nanny to leave your child in a wet diaper. Your baby can get diaper rash or other skin conditions. Also for her to intentionally point out safety hazards is very clueless. I would let her go and look for a more, experienced Nanny w/great references. |
Slathering but paste to protect from a wet diaper is not healthy. Yes, I'd change mine. |
Exactly. OP obviously didn’t hire a nanny. She hired a warm body babysitter, and much cheaper than an actual nanny. |
+1 We’ve never had a problem with the overnight diapers. DC doesn’t poop at night. We slather on a ton of aquaphor and Desitin. |
A PP put it well - she is a dangerous dud (and that's putting it mildly). I would let her go immediately. |
