Sibley vs GW

Anonymous
My OBGYN at Sibley told be to go to GW. They said I became to complicated and GW had better medical infrastructure in case of hemorrhaging! They also told me they had privledges and could come to GW. They never did.

I think GWs trauma designation makes them “better” for certain things.

In the end, I had a 37 week delivery. I was extraordinarily well taken care of by the doctors at GW.

I felt abandoned by my Sibley Group.

Now, did I miss the fancy room and pampering? Yup.
But, did it matter? Not in the least.

Personally, if you are older and ok with a cs go to Sibley. Make sure you ask your doctor, what happens if you really become high risk? Will they send you elsewhere? Will they actually see you? If you are remotely complicated go to gw or GT.

I delivered my 34 weeker at Sibley. She received excellent care at Sibley but ultimately they transferred her to Georgetown NICU. (They did it out of an abundance of caution: it turned out she didn’t need the extra support and would have been fine where she was.) It was hard watch her leave, but it made my discharge so much easier - I wasn’t leaving her behind and I couldn’t wait to get out so I could go be with her.

Omg no one pampers you at Sibley. Stop perpetuating lies.

Anonymous wrote:GW is better if you want vaginal birth and they have a level 3 NICU. Sibley is based off the rooms but much higher Csection rate. When my doula through Balanced Bellies pointed us to look at their csection/intervention rates I switched to GW and I am glad I did, I had an uneventful wonderful vaginal birth with no interventions. Team had wonderful bedside manner as well! All 4 of my gfs that delivered at Sibley in the matter of 3 months had csections.

I had two vaginal births at sibley without tearing and happily accepted the epidural. Friends who delivered at GW had c - section.

You clearly haven’t given birth at GW. GW can be borderline abusive. I was called names. Sibley is a dream compared to GW. Everything is relative

You’re arguing with someone who agrees with you. I was also treated like crap at GW. Had the second at Sibley and it was a dream
By comparison. But there was zero pampering. Just health care providers acting professionally and with compassion — that’s not pampering, it’s what they should be doing.

And? I still preferred Sibley.

I was treated great at GW. It really doesn’t matter. Deliver at the hospital closer to you. Or don’t. No one cares

Gw is now letting in 2 support people. That’s good.

First two were delivered at sibley- both vaginal at 41 weeks. This was before the renovation when you had to pay OOP for a private room. Due this summer with number 3 and curious if that will still be the case (100% worth it regardless).
