Pregnancy Constipation

Anonymous
I feel you soooo much on this. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and here is what I've done. I've never experienced constipation in life until pregnancy and I was nearly in tears every day at your stage. I started taking 2 fiber gummie vitamins every day (you can just find them on Amazon, Target, etc), I eat raisin bran every morning, I drink a ton of water, from about week 10 to week 28 I drank a small can of prune juice every day (disgusting, I know, but legitimately worked). I warmed it up because for whatever reason it tasted better to me that way. I stopped doing the prune juice at 28 weeks, however, to see if my body could be regular with just the raisin bran (it could - yay!). I also drink a lot of smoothies or oatmeal with berries and flaxseed. Tried cutting down on carbs, cheese, and super sugary items. I bought Colace as a backup but haven't used it yet. I also bought the Stork "Laxative" tea on Amazon, it's a pregnancy brand which works well and tastes good. Just some ideas. Oh and walking and exercising in any helps. Walking and Peloton have both helped (walking generally works a little better, I've found). I've done a LOT, but I've been pooping every day since like week 10/11. Ah pregnancy...

I am the above poster. I also occasionally would do every-other-day with my prenatal with iron. I used a prenatal without iron on the days I didn't take the one with iron. But I only did that probably 6-7 days total.

I am a bad patient and only take folic acid. Both of my kids survived by treacherous uterus without any major defects

OP my dad has a neurologic condition and what helps him is eating huge quantities of vegetables like shredded carrots

You can also try walking

Miralax and cut out the extra iron helped me so much. Good luck!
