craigslist rip off

I got scammed by a local vendor, Try it Racing. he never refunded me the $400 he was supposed to refund me. I went to small claims court, and he never showed up so I won. But it is so difficult to collect anyway, he has nothing in his name, it is close to impossible. I would not recommend it. You can try it and then write it off as bad debt in your taxes after you have exhausted all possibilites.

PP, could you have filed a complaint with the BBB or the Attorney General's Office since it was a business? At least that would add to the paper trail if he did it again even if you couldn't get your money back.

I'm the PP that did htis first before going to the police- it was useless.. yes it leaves a paper trail but scam artists don't keep their business names and addresses long- they move around.. and always use cell phones..

consider the police- it's fraud- a criminal offense..

Don't waste any more of your precious time or energy on this. Life is too short. Consider it an expensive lesson learned.

Have you ever done smalls claims court? I thought it was great and for a small percentage of the award, I'd be happy to file on your behalf!

I'd write it off and move on. It's not worth the effort. You're mad and want to get back at him but pursing it will most likely cause more irritation and anxiety than letting it go. In addition, you probably won't get your money back.

But, go ahead and post on his Facebook page if you want. Why not?
