Your kid might not return to a classroom this year.

Of course they aren’t going back this school year. I said this as soon as the decision was made in July to have everyone “just start virtual” (this is APS). Then the start date moved from Oct to Nov to Dec to.... probably never.

Because Trump massively mishandled the pandemic. And lied about his incompetence.

And Senate Republicans pardoned him, keeping him in office. For judges and tax cuts. At the expense of your kids.

this. I will never, ever forgive those douchebags. They have so very much blood on their hands between Covid deaths and the insurrection.

LMFAO poor thing. Thinking either wing of the same birds gives a flying phuck about you.

Why in gods name do you keep bringing up a fight between Seth Rogan and Ted Cruz on twitter?

Is a celebrity twitter fight the extent of you political knowledge?

Sweet jesus lady, please expand your reading list a bit.

If they don't, I will blame FCPS leadership, the FCPS school board, FEA, Govenor Northam, people who traveled in unsafe ways, and President Trump. I'll spread the blame happily.

And I will also vote for anyone who will get my kids in school.

Sure but their schools are not good. You get what you pay for.

These are districts with better metrics rates than LCPS.

There was an earlier thread today about Biden’s lack of conviction and highly ambiguous comments on reopening schools. Of course, DCUM parents will jump quickly and rage about “how they have votes” now.

But, we’ve been ready to get back since March 2020. When we closed two weeks to flatten the curve. Remember?

There are many school districts with in person options. The ones I know about have non-union teachers who are doing their best and working long hours to help all kids.

Honestly, for planning purposes, it would have been so much better to just say this instead of having eleventy billion drills about hybrid learning, returning to the classroom etc.

We sort of gave up the ghost this year. No one is going back. Period.

Let's hope between the vaccine is available by this summer to the public. If it is, I'm sure classes will occur with masking.

We don’t have a real union that can negotiate or bargain, or who represents a majority of teacher voices. We have some crazy lady from the FEA (which represents maybe, at tops, 3 percent of the faculty) who leadership lets speak at SB meetings and it is starting to infuriate me. She has no idea what teachers need and want. Vaccines for kids? That is utterly ridiculous and means staying in DL hell for the forseeable future. Who wants that? How about smaller classes?

In May the crazy lady from the FEA will be the one negotiating and bargaining. The bill to allow it has been passed, FEA has said they will ask for collective bargaining, and FCPS BOS has signaled that they will approve it.

This +1000

we all know schools aren't opening. a bunch of meetings and fake plans for nothing. they should just be upfront with families so we can plan accordingly. enough already. the lack of honesty and transparency is driving everyone private and the fact that children can learn in person.

It's January and the school year runs until June (unless they extend it, like they've been talking about). And you're ready to throw in the towel? (Okay, I am ready to throw in the towel too. But our sad household will revive if our kids are able to return to the building.)

there aren't enough spots NOW in private schools. Good luck with this.

the privates near us (which are mostly parochial) aren't open either

please, the republicans knew trump was dangerous, but left him in power anyway. ANYONE ELSE might have at least TRIED to care.

You were all warned this man couldn't handle a crisis, and boy, did he ever prove it.

National Republicans are to blame - 100%.

It really is plain as day.
