Watching the Inauguration secretly from my corner of the house

Well wishes to all the Trumper husband wives today.

That's me but I watched the inauguration openly. Here's to Biden and Harris!

Republican? Sure.

Trumper? JFC no, and definitely not "for the kids."

Why would you want to stay married to someone like that? And was your son calling to try to get him to come back home? Because he was scared? Your son shouldn't be put in those shoes.

Trust I really don't want to, but I don't see divorce as a wonderful solution either. So the kids can get unchallenged and unfiltered crazy 50% of the time? So I can keep having to deal w him the rest of my life but have even less ability to influence the kids' everyday life? No thanks. I married someone who turned crazy and now I'll have to live with it and pray things change again.

Hiding in the corner isn’t doing anything to challenge or filter his crazy. If you hide your views, all your kids see are his, which is worse than if you divorced and then expressed your views freely to your children.

I could be married to a never Trumper/Mitt Romney/Jeff Flake type Republican. But not a trumper. No no no.

PP here - I'm not OP. I didn't hide in the corner and I don't hide my opinions from the kids. I put it on the TV as mentioned in the original quoted post.

Trumper hubby needs to learn to accept that his hero is now officially a zero.

All the people here saying to get rid of someone who doesn't think like you do hasn't considered your 'change or I'll leave' will probably end up with your spouse walking on you.

I generally agree with you, although I must say Trump's inauguration really depressed me. And my family depressed me. My mom kept saying now Trump is going to "pivot" and be more presidential. lol. So much for that. But it truly was a sad day to me. And I can't say that about the other elections I've lost. Didn't vote for either Bush. Didn't vote for Bill Clinton once. Nothing like what I felt when Trump was sworn in.

I hope for your sake and the nation's sake that this Trumpism calms down. And that some of the crazy goes away. I really do feel for you. Dealing with something similar but not political....
