Where have you heard that? My husband just got into Union Station, walked to a functioning Metro, and made it into Maryland and never showed anyone ID.


I guess then it's to protect Virginia since they were checking cars crossing the bridge.

I know this is on a different scale, but I lived in Boston in 2004, when people fled down in advance of the Democratic National Convention. There was all this talk of violent, anarchists coming to town.

My roommate and I were too poor to go anywhere. We walked all over downtown, sometimes down the middle of the streets. Most of the people we saw out and about were cops and reporters.
