I don't think so. Burke has an open campus in the HS and the buildings are open fairly late, so kids can socialize at and around school during the week. The school is majority DC families, but there are plenty of kids from MD and VA too. (There's also a bus route from Alexandria & Arlington.)

My Burke kids socialized often with kids from Virginia and also PG County. Socializing is easier if you live in NW DC or near the Red Line, but Burke kids come from all over the DMV.

From what I've seen, Burke has fewer cliques than most schools, both in MS and HS.
