Risk their health and send them to a potential super spreader event to stick it to FCPS. No thanks! |
My high schoolers can go and I’m fine with that. One has already gone in for psat. Not going to send my elementary kids. |
Now that I know how little FCPS values a day of school, I will have no qualms having a fun day with my kids for SOL day. I’m not letting them use my kids high scores—due to ME teaching them all year— as some kind of proof that this year wasn’t a farce. |
School will be in-person by then. It sounds like some of you are unaware of that? |
Oh my gosh, I assumed you meant if schools were back to open, would you have your dc take SOLs (my answer would be hell, no, we will have a fun day off instead). Then I read the article and I couldn’t tell if it was a real paper or the Onion.
If they can’t have my kid in person to teach there is no way I am sending him to take a shitty test that does not benefit him in any way! Unbelievable!!! |
I’m opting my kids out even if schools are open.
I can’t believe they would squander an in person day of education on SOL testing. When there has been no education so far this year. My mind is blown. |
You would prefer that the SOLs be a part of passing? That 3rd graders who do not pass have to repeat the grade? Have you thought this through? |
It's not just one day. At some schools it is weeks or months of preparation. Opting out makes no sense. |
+1 Although I would like them to test because I know they are showing significant GAINS this year! |
Is pot legal in Virginia now? |
What a joke! Including lower the passing score to 350. The tests are not difficult. |
VDOE has already waived a few of the SOLs(elem science, Va studies, 8th grade writing maybe a few more these are not Federally mandated. Math and ELA are mandated thus far. |
You're aware that they've made them harder, right? You just don't care? |
They made the SOL tests harder then lowered the score? I don’t get it |
There’s a really funny episode of Teachers a slightly older show available I think on amazon prime -
About not wanting parents to know their kids can opt out |
