Why do people blame local electeds for Covid impact?

No impropriety there at all, right? Nah.

It sounds like any of the potentially faulty tests procured by Gov Hogan were replaced by the manufacturer at no cost to the state of MD. If the Governors are supposed to think out of the box for the good of their state, I am not sure how we can hold this against him. I suppose if you do not like the fact that he is married to a Korean, then the issue may be on your side.

Hogan needs to resign.

Elrich and Hogan have shown they have zero sense of what it takes to actuallly invest and run a business. The energy in building a loyal following, hire and retain good people and provide for a family. They suck off the taxes that we pay and bend over for every public sector union. Then tell us how we can do better. I wouldn’t trust either one of them to walk my dog around the block, let alone with my health.

This structure makes a lot of sense since local situations differ and therefore local politicians are able to make better decisions than remote ones. This decentralization is what allowed Florida to be better managed than New York in terms of Covid response. At an even finer level, rural counties do not have a need for the most strict rules as adopted by urban counties and the best people to make that decision is the local county leadership.

If you don't like it, you can push for a Constitution amendment.

Good luck with that.[/quote

Exactitude right. Florida, Maryland and Idaho are all different.

More federal govt payouts is not the answer.
Well documented that folks are making more with unemployment plus Covid check.

That’s an indictment of low wages, not too much government.

Low wages is caused by excessive immigration and adoption over globalization faster than the labor market can adopt.

Because Montgomery County covid testing sites are a disaster. The first test I took I never received results. Second took several days. We tried getting tests in advance of Christmas, and on Thursday the site was closed (weather?!?) and Friday the "drive up" testing site was actually a long line outdoors in the bitter cold - impossible with a toddler. Testing lines and delays in getting results have absolutely caused deaths and we should hold our public officials accountable. We are lucky to have options for Covid testing but the most vulnerable populations do not.

I agree. And that sounds like a local issue, not federal.
