New Yorker cover going viral (millennial woman, childless, cats, drinking alone in apt on zoom)

The artist is Adriane Tomin. Here's what he had to say about families stuck at home with kids - wild, feral, tons of cats, lots of wine, confusion, dirty dishes and laundry, obsession with screens, screaming, disarray, everything out of place, TV playing some kids show.

What's wrong with it? I think it's funny and many can identify with it.

Just like I'm a working mom with two young kids and I can identify with that other picture that went viral some time ago with a mom doing an interview but outside of her zoom area, the living room was filled with kids toys.

The millennial has the better deal.

That's a martini glass. Gonna assume there's something stronger than wine in those bottles on the fridge. Also, she's clearly Latina or other POC, which means she's probably about 15 years older than she actually looks. Add lack of stress from not having children...oh yeah. Chica is living her best pandemic life. r u jellis?

I assumed age was late 20s to early 40s.

My childfree/less friends are still going out to date nights, outdoor socializing, and vacations.

Nope. I am infertile and childless, and the same health problems which prevented me from getting pregnant are the same ones preventing me from going out to do any socializing or even go to the grocery store. This cover spoke to me.

Hug from an anonymous person.

All I have to say is that I'd rather be that woman than stuck at home with toddlers.

It's a tad on the cluttered side and I am a guy.

So you're infertile and childless and living in filth with I assume a spouse or partner? Have you thought about anti-depressants?

Oh no, that just never occurred to me. /sarcasm.

Thanks for the hug, previous empathetic poster.

I know some people with kids who are handling this just fine, while living in sfhs with yards. Other people have more issues. Sometimes those of us who are childless are also actually lonely and have only our spouse for support (or not.)

Eh, the filth is gross, unnecessary, and hopefully inaccurate for most. The only thing missing is the cliché vibrator hanging from the bed.

forgot tattoos

kids are too expensive. student loans kill the ability to build wealth. as soon as you are done paying your student loans, SUPRISE!, time to pay more loans for your kids' education. high paying jobs and job stability are nil, and oh, millennials actually have the most medical debt out of any generation because of how badly the boomers have f*cked up the health care system.

Why do you think you need to state your gender? That's odd.
