Former Teacher Badmouthing My Child

Teachers do talk; new teacher apparently likes your kid. Not affecting/altering life-long prospects. Get over it.

teachers do talk about their students; OBs talk about their patients; plumbers talk about their customers.

They better not do it in ways that are identifiable, and they had better stick to the truth; or they can be sued for slander.

I remember being shocked the first time I heard it but became rather immune after listening to in on an almost daily basis. Not saying this as an excuse, but I got the impression that some teachers were under a lot of stress (this was a challenging school district) and this was a way for them to vent.

Another former teacher agreeing. I was always disturbed by the sometimes vicious gossiping about students and their families. And yes, sometimes it does harm the children when former teachers prejudice current and future teachers. Very unprofessional, but unfortunately, also very common.
