Many schools have a limit, some as low as 9. The story is they want students to really research colleges and that the colleges know that any kid who applies from that school is serious about it because they aren't just casting a wide net.

My DS Maryland private school is usually 10 but they changed to to 14 because of Covid and the kids not being able to visit campuses.
