Infertility Support and Discussion
| I'm 40 years old and recently got pregnant with Dr. DiMattina, he even wrote a blog about my case so I think you should explore all options before making a decision. |
| I'm the PP who just cycled with Dr Davis at Cornell. Before cycling with Shady Grove, I had consults with Dr Dimattina and Dr Frankfurter at GW. I highly recommend going for multiple consults before choosing a clinic. If nothing else, it will give you peace of mind that you explored all your options and chose the best local clinic for your situation. Even if you have to pay for the consults yourself, in my opinion it is money well spent when you think of all time, money and emotional energy you'll invest in each IVF cycle. Good luck!!!! |

OP here - OK, I know you're both probably right: I just got an appt. with Dr. Gordon at Dominion for next week, and maybe will try GW too, and see what they all say. I've heard that at GW Dr. Frankfurter's cutoff for high FSH is 15, though, so don't want to waste the time or money if that's the case... anyone have a different experience?
Thanks much, and good luck to you 15:17! |
| If you are doing multiple consults, then I would also suggest seeing Dr. Preston Sacks at Columbia Fertility. He treats many women with high FSH. Good luck! |

I'm the PP who had a consult with Dr Frankfurter. He told me that he gets "very good results with FSH as high as 14" -- not sure if his cutoff is 15 or not. But someone with more experience/success with higher FSH might be a better bet.
I too have heard that Dr Sacks treats a lot of high FSH women. |

OK, thanks. I think between Greenhouse, Sacks and Gordon I'll have a pretty good idea of my local options.
While I'm at it I think I'll make an appt. with Dr. Davis at Cornell now too, since I hear it can take a couple months to see him. I can always cancel that one if I'm liking one of the other docs. Thanks everyone! |
PP Dr. Gordon is great and I truly think he is the best doc in the DC area and I saw all the ones you mentioned except Davis at Cornell, but I would have gone there if Dominion fertility hadn't made it happen for us. It's such a difficult decision but I know in my heart that Dr Gordon did everything possible to help us and we were blessed with a good outcome. We wish you the best in your pursuit

| Thank you! |
| When "interviewing" RE's, I recommend asking them what percent of their cases are patients like you (older, high FSH). I think that what made my cycle with Dr Davis at Cornell go so much better than my cycles with Dr Widra is that Dr Davis simply sees more tough cases so he is used to tweaking protocols in ways that may not matter for easier patients, but can make a huge difference for poor responders. Good luck!!!!! |
| I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Greenhouse. I think he is very competent and compassionate. I trusted him completely with my treatment and he was right on. I was quite lucky to get him as my RE. I would highly recommend him. |

Thank you to the last 2 posters. I'm glad I have an appt. w/Greenhouse. And I think that's great advice to ask the RE's what % of their patients are high FSH patients.
It looks like I can get an appt. with Dr. Davis in NY in April, and I should know by then how I feel about the local doctors and whether or not I want to take the extra time and expense to go to NY! |
