Dear God, please no more little Olivia’s or Violets!! I know a lot of Sasha’s too but we have a strong Russian population in my neighborhood so that may not be true in your town. I love Courtney, Haley or Catherine (called Catherine - no nickname). |
Like: 1. Olivia, 8. Catherine
Don’t like: 2. Violet 3.Rosemarie (or Rosemary) 4. Courtney 5. Eliana 6. Haley 7. Hilda 9. Sasha |
I like Haley. Catherine is okay. Olivia is fine if you don’t mind how popular it is.
I really, really dislike the rest of the names. Hilda may be the worst name out there, with Arabella not that far off. |
Love and would use Rosemary Eliana Sasha (as a nickname for Alexandra) Like Catherine Olivia Violet Rosemarie Don't love the sounds, but nothing objectionable about Courtney Haley Dislike Hilda (strong witch association) Arabella (way too frilly) It is weird to me that someone would have super trendy Olivia, super dated Hilda, classic Catherine and trendy but dated Haley on the same list. |
1. Olivia
2. Violet 3.Rosemarie (or Rosemary) 4. Courtney 5. Eliana 6. Haley 7. Hilda 8. Catherine 9. Sasha 10. Arabella I really love Violet and Rosemary. I really do not like Haley, Sasha, and Arabella. Courtney is downwardly mobile Catherine is a classic. You can't go wrong with it. I like Olivia a lot, but I feel it was overdone about 15 years ago. Eliana feels like it's trying to hard. Hilda is just terrible. |

Violet
Haley Catherine Don’t like; Olivia (too popular) Eliana and Arabella are fussy Hilda is ugly |
+1 |
Favorites:
Violet Catherine Least Favorites: Olivia—way overused Arabella—too prissy Hilda—sounds like an overweight, German housekeeper or a witch I also like Courtney but realize many do not and find it dated, but not in a good way. |

Violet Haley (dated but I love this name) Courtney (same as above) Dislike: Olivia (popular) Hilda (what?!?) Eliana (too many letters) Arabella (too froofy) Sasha (hate) Neutral Catherine |
Like: Catherine, Violet, Olivia (but this is a bit too popular for me to use as a first name, maybe a middle)
Neutral about Sasha and Rosemary Dislike: Arabella (Ivanka’s kid), Eliana, Haley, Courtney I’m intrigued by Hilda. I wouldn’t use it myself but I would salute someone who did. |
I like Violet, Courtney and Arabella. Arabella is a strong scottish name to me.
The others are just too popular or downright no good. Eliana is too much. And we don't need any more Ellies. Liana or Leah are much better. Sasha is still a boy nickname to me (and I'm not russian -- just well-read). |

Rosemary - classic and not overused Catherine - classic, slightly boring but that's fine Eliana - feels frilly, but I know a preschool Eliana so it's grown on me Alexandra nn Sasha - love this as a strong name plus unexpected nn Okay, but meh: Olivia - so overused Violet - overused Rosemarie - feels like parents just wanted a fancier version of Rosemary Courtney - dated, but nothing objectionable Dislike: Haley - feels "teen mom" Hilda - love old lady names, but this feels try hard. Would move up to Okay if it was a family name or strong ethnic connection Arabella - my 4 year old would totally use this as a fancy princess name Sasha - as a stand alone name |
My case for Haley is that it’s not trending now while still a well-known name. It works on different personalities/types of people. I can easily a see a classic, feminine Haley (Hayley Mills), a sporty one, an edgy one. |
