baby clothing

I like Little Me at BRU too! They're not frilly, and the material is soft. I never used the bibs or hats though.

I needed the newborn sizes. My 6lb4oz, 19in baby was still swimming in newborn clothes.

I prefer snaps over zippers. The zipper sleepers always seem to bunch up and don't seem as comfortable. Also, as my baby elongates, I stretch-out the material in the legs before each wear. By doing so, I get a couple more weeks of use.

We had a 7lb 12oz baby, pretty average in size, and she was literally swimming in the 0-3 month clothing. We were happy we had newborn sized clothes and used most of them for the first 1-2 months.

Really? Literally SWIMMING, huh? Literally. I am figuratively, not literally, bouncing off the walls reading this.

Side-snap (kimono-style) t-shirts from Carter's are the BEST!! We got the short sleeved ones in NB and 0-3 for our winter baby. She wore them under her footie pjs -- good for warmth and so nice not to have to undo more snaps when changing endless diapers. If yours is a summer baby, I still think they'll be great!

If you're in NoVA, check out the Carters store in Bailey's Crossroads. Huge selection and great prices. They're always running sales etc.

I'm expecting in April, and I've found great deals on about everything mentioned at Monkey's Uncle consignment in Eastern Market. Someone mentioned $7 as a great price for an outfit at consignment, I would consider that a bit of a splurge. I have bought tons of cute things at Monkey's Uncle for $5 or less. Between hand me downs, gifts, and consignment, I hope to buy no actually new clothes.

I didn't read all of the previous comments so maybe some of this is repetitive, but here goes.

- I hated gowns.
- baby can pretty much live in footed sleepers for the first few months. I always liked the zippers, frankly, because it made middle of the night diaper changes much easier.
- get some sleepers in both lightweight and heavyweight fabrics -- when the baby is swaddled for sleeping, a lighter weight sleeper is better.
- a few newborn sized footed sleepers are helpful even if your baby is normal or big.
- I didn't think bibs would be necessary since they're not eating solids, but they are super helpful to avoid some of the clothing changes due to spit-up.
- I never liked the pants with feet on them. Found them impossible to keep on.
