HIPS, a nonprofit that does street outreach, accepts donations of candy.

| Gingerbread house idea is awesome. I may actually go buy some 50% off candy for that reason. Other than that..THROW IT AWAY! Why would someone give it to a hospital? Sick people do not need to eat something that will contribute to decline in health. No significant nutritional value. |

Looks like this organization sends candy to troops.

sort out any candy that can be used to decorate gingerbread houses
sort out any candy that can be chopped up to be used in place of chocolate chips for holiday baking hide all Receese PB cups in the back of the freezer in an empty chopped spinach box Now see what you have left and look for options. Some pediatric dentists will trade candy for a prize. Take it to your local Fire Station and ask if they would like it (ours was always happy to get ours) |
| Be generous and offer it on your neighborhood page. There’s one kid out there that ate all his candy and is Sad. |
| Food for Others in Fairfax is taking candy donations |
There is far too much of it for my son to eat. Ideally, I'd like to keep a small amount for him and donate the rest. The idea of throwing it out seems abhorrent, but if I can't find a resolution we may have to do that. |
All great ideas, but I am not much of a baker and do not typically do gingerbread houses. I've also recently gotten my diet in shape and have lost 40 lbs, so I am not contributing to the eating of remaining candy stash. I do like the idea of the pediatric dentists and firehouse donations. I've also heard that some seniors centers may take it - if anyone know of any in particular, please advise! Thanks. |
| Some food banks will take it. People who are hungry need occasional treats too. As well as the volunteers and staff. |
Yes food banks will accept it and dole it out little by little. Why so nasty? |
| Send it to me. |

Up until this year, our dentist would buy it back.
This year, we'll just keep it and use it for baking/trail mix/keeping it in my purse/ It has a super long shelf life so we'll probably still be munching on it until Easter. |
