For people who can afford it - tutors

Yeah I know it doesn't solve the problems of equity. But, honestly, nothing short of 100% in person will solve that problem and that's not happening until well after a vaccine.

So if you want to support teachers but also make sure your kid is learning something, hire a tutor.

Again, I'm talking ONLY to the people who can afford it. To the people who post about how they are two lawyer families, live in a big house in NW, etc. who say school needs to resume in person because they can't work and meet their kids' needs at the same time. So hire someone who can?

I'm just puzzled that this solution isn't mentioned more on here.

OP, this is mentioned all the time in different guises: Hire a tutor. Homeschool. Be a parent and do your job. Move away. No one will care.

Of course, that may be that one obnoxious poster who is (claiming to be?) a teacher. But yes, it’s been covered.

most parents who could afford tutors in DCPS already had them pre-Covid. My kids did two days of extra math and reading between swim club, dance and sports. I don't know why people think it is only a good idea now. DCPS is always like this

My kids' aren't learning anything I cannot teach them, they're young. I'm more concerned of the breakdown of our school system and the kids who cannot afford tutors... or internet.

Will the tutor somehow also provide them with social skills that come with cooperative working with peers? There is so much more to a school than academics. And where are these tutors that are available, skilled, affordable, and safe?

I have no interest in supporting teachers after this tantrum.

I do have to hire outside help because you can't teach K literacy online.

This is just a jobs program at this point. ECE teachers aren't doing shit.

Wow, rich people should hire supplemental workers to provide their kids with better education.

An entirely novel proposition, and one which has never been attempted before.

You did it! You solved the riddle!

Who is the dark money behind this bizarre post? A teacher? The tutor lobby?
