| Is logging into Canvas today crossing a picket line? |
| Janney Principal sent a note stating there are quite a few teachers who have called in sick today. |
I don't think so. Our Deal teachers all posted lessons for today and one said she will be available by email. |
Yet if our kids don't click on Canvas they are unexcused absent, right? This whole thing is insane. Thanks DC. Thanks WTU. You find new and creative ways to hurt our kids and disappoint us! |
No. The WTU letter wants teachers to avoid Teams (ie, live instruction). They encouraged teachers to have the assignments available for students. |
Janney 3rd also just called out. So has deal 7th. Most disappointed in the number of emails that aren’t even being honest about why. One says she’s calling in sick, another says today was a recognized holiday, one just states that today there are no classes as a matter of fact. None, not one, admits it’s a collective action. If there’s nothing to be ashamed of why make sure to obfuscate the truth? |
Two of my DC's Deal teachers offered (different) lame excuses for taking the day off. DC's education is suffering enough without teachers playing hookey. |
Agreed: got two different BS excuses. |
Cool. Perhaps all students should be able to "collectively" call sick-out days without penalty. |
| My kids' 4th and 6th classes are Asynch today for the sick out. |
| One teacher out, haven’t heard from the other. So this is to protest schools reopening? |
|
Normally I contribute quite generously to the group fund for our teacher’s holiday bonus. I will not be making a contribution this year, as they’re protesting not wanting to teach my SN child who sorely needs in-person to learn. Feels like a slap in her face.
I have zero respect for my kid’s teachers right now. |
| Just heard about PK4 at SWS from the principal. |
They can, it’s called a parent note or a forged one, What kind of reply is this? Kids can miss school whenever as long as its not to many days. |
Heck, I'd like a job where I can just not show up! |
