They happen to be next to each other. However the school does not have the ability to move the shelter. Emery House has the city's blessing to continue to operate. Coalition for the Homeless converted Emery from an emergency shelter to a program specifically for homeless men with full-time employment in 2005. It seems clear from your post that you do not know anything about the program or its residents. I actually live three blocks away and walk down Lincoln Rd all the time and am not convinced that these men threaten you in any way. |
You can get off your high horse. When did you move to the neighborhood? Was it before 2002? I live within a half mile of Emery and I don't have to find the shelter threatening in a "menacing" sense to nonetheless find it very detrimental in both an academic and social sense. Some pre-schoolers in this city go for walks to museums or playgrounds or stores or the metro... Where are you going to go at Emery that doesn't involve a march past a homeless men's shelter? On what planet is this not a huge and creepy negative?? |
