Are kittens or puppies generally easier to raise?

We have both. Our kitten is a rescue and she was 6 months when we got her. Litter box trained. We only had to work on her sleeping at night and not attacking our toes in the bed. She is now 6 and aside from occasionally throwing up a hairball or walking across a zoom screen she's fine. Low maintenance

Our dog came to us at 8 wks old. He is now 3. He requires constant training, exercise and attention. He is huge for attention. And he barks.

Kittens, kittens, kittens. The only problem I ever had with a kitten was also the only kitten I got off of craigslist instead of from a shelter. It was weaned too early from its mama, and had some neurosis as a result. But, even that cat was way, way easier than a puppy, and did not need any litter training.

Kittens by far. No way could I deal with the walking , needing to go out multiple times a day, not being able to be out more than a few hours because you have to get home to let the dog out. No way . I like dogs but they are high maintenance because they don’t like to be alone and need someone to take them out to toilet.

Kittens are a huge pain! They are very active and nocturnal. Unless you are nocturnal, I do not recommend.

Kittens are really only "very active" when they're awake, and they sleep like 20 hours a day. You have to keep an eye on them when they are awake (and part of that will be at night), but overall they're pretty easy. No potty training, no walking, etc.

Puppies are crazy difficult--I have one right now. I can't help but laugh at myself for ever thinking my kittens were any amount of work. Now my cats are like a calming presence in the home and I seek out their comfort when the puppy is driving me up the wall.

Cats can be trained not to be nocturnal. Bathroom - put in their bed, water, litter box and toy. Remove things that might get knocked over. Cat goes in when you go to bed, learns its bedtime. We only had to do this 2 or 3 times for the cat to get it and "reset"

Puppies you have to take outside in the middle of the night.

Kittens but maybe get two. They can reach everything and go through a crazy phase. Nice if you have a small room for this. Get a young one 8 weeks. They really bond and cats CAN be trained. They just take their time with a direct order. Ours is well trained. And very loving.

I have never taken a puppy out in the middle of the night -- take away the water 4 hours before bedtime and they'll empty out for the night on their last trip.

OP, if you're talking about bodily functions, kittens are easier unless you were planning to take a walk every few hours anyway. Also you will feel like an idiot praising your puppy for peeing and pooping outside.

If you're talking about all the elements of staying where they're supposed to and not into forbidden areas, and not destroying stuff, I'd say puppies.
