BFA Acting Chances?

It is a grad program.

To the original question, the BFA audition process is terribly expensive and involved. It is designed for upper middle class to wealthy kids from families that have a lot of expendable money and time. It is not for middle class or poor families, aingle parent families, families with multiple younger kids, or families where both parents have demanding jobs.

Visit the musical theatre forums on college confidential to see what is involved in the BFA audition process. Those people are crazy, but it is 100% accurate as to what is involved in a normal audition process.

Also realize that live theater and acting in general will take a very long time to come back after this pandemic. Deblasio just closed Broadway for an additional 4 months. Most of the affiliated companies like costume shops and even stores in the Garment District are going out of business. DeBlasio's latest move just nailed the coffin shut.

many supportive groups on FB with more relevant info than presented on this thread. On FB look for BFA Acting Dreams or MT Parents (if musical theatre). i don't recommend college confidential for this. The audition/application is a specialized and extremely competitive process and best to start understanding how it works early in the game or you may feel very overwhelmed once application time begins. My child is on the BFA path and it very fulfilling and exciting. The pandemic certainly has thrown a wrench in the industry but I still feel happy that they are following a passion. I know many people with BFA who are working actors and some that are pursuing other dreams.
