Thanks again everyone for the advice- I’m anxiously awaiting nipple shields and a new cream in the mail, and the silverettes piqued my interest too! I also have a telehealth appt set up with an LC. Until then, I’ve got the gel pads cooling off in the fridge and nipple cream close by at all times! |
Happy you’re getting help and have a good plan. Will add a warm epsom salt soak helps too. (You use a bowl on the counter and nip dip for as long as you can stand there). |

Checking in to see how you are feeling. |
OP here- Thanks for checking in! Whoever suggested the football hold- thank you!! The latch on my right side isn’t quite as painful once I got the hang of football hold. I’m still very sore (even when I’m not nursing my right nipple is in pain), but I’m looking forward to a virtual appt with an LC on Monday and until then the creams and gel patches are helping! Still tempted to buy the silverettes but they’re $$ on amazon. A few more days of this, though, and I’ll be investing in some! |
I bought the silverettes and they were good for my cracked, scabby nipple but I don’t think they do anything for ongoing soreness/burning/Vasospasm which is what I have now (4 weeks). I’m just gritting my teeth and believing that at 6 weeks it will get better. Might try the lactation consultant again but have already tried twice. |
Get on Youtube and watch videos. Lots and lots of videos. Use a shield, get some APNO. Pump to maintain supply. |
Yay! I would cradle hold on the left and football on the right. It got so much easier after 2 months. Now were at 10 months and still EBF. It was a hellish 2 months but I'm so grateful I stuck with it! |
