Length of parent statement on applications?

Admissions officer here-

Try to keep it short and concise. Preferably 200 words or less.

Also please include your yearly salary, bank account balance, and how much you plan to donate to our annual fund.

Thank you.

The more the better your child has a chance to get in.

Be concise, but not too brief.
Avoid being too specific but don’t leave out any details.
Make sure you discuss how your child is special but don’t make it sound as if he/she is too unique.
Don’t forget to spell check.

OP updating. We're asking Admissions as we get a chance to talk to them in Q&A sessions. Most recently we were told "a couple of sentences per question", just a paragraph or three.

If you answer too abruptly, you’ll sound like you’re not invested. Too long, and you’ll annoy admissions officers who have limited time to plow through hundreds of applications.

About 1/2 a page to 3/4 of a page MAX - 12 point Times Roman - per question should do it. Make sure it’s well and tightly written.

I spent maybe 15 hours on my parent essays. Honed them repeatedly until they read beautifully. DC was admitted at every school to which we applied.

"According to me, my essays were perfect." FFS.

When you think you've read it all.

Well, the admissions stats speak for themselves. Many people dash off essays thinking just being themselves will be good enough. “Read beautifully” doesn’t mean they were perfect, but that they were carefully written to be ready easily.

Only someone who is a moron would misinterpret description of hard work as a boast.
