I chose to get tested and fought ins company tooth and nail for preventive screening. I am sure my family would rather have me around than a sack of money in the near future.

I have two young kids. Not telling them yet. I have my reasons for not getting tested but if a cure emerges I will get tested and seen treatment.

Huh, well I at least would have had embryos testrd for it...

OP here. This is my philosophy. Also, I have health insurance that I am in no danger of losing and life insurance that was secured well before this came up.

Thank you to everyone that has replied - there has really been some helpful information.

If the genetic test comes back positive and is in your chart, you can be denied long term care, life insurance and disability insurance.

I have had cancer, and I have had genetic testing (+).

I won’t be getting more life insurance, nor will I get disability. Luckily we have LTC.

I want my kids to have the higher level of survellience, without the genetic testing.

20:20 here. I purchased life insurance before the appointment with the geneticist but, it turned out, the life insurance never asked.

For my kids, I didn't expect that they would be tested but when the time came, I didn't refuse. They both have mild symptoms and have been helped by supplements.

A data point of ONE is not sufficient for people to not be concerned about insurance.
