Will Spelling Bee next for lottery ?

Reading to one's own children should be outlawed. They'll be ahead of others.

+1

Helping kids gain any kind of advantage by prepping them for competition or testing should be avoided.

Will they make sure that diversity is ensured and is dumbed down ?

"Akeelah and the Bee", even Akeelah had prepping and coaching, by the fabulous Laurence Fishburne.

Let's add District Band, Regional Orchestra, Varsity Sports to the list potential candidates for lottery.
Look, are you really this dumb? Band, orchestra, varsity sports - and yes the Bee! - are extracurriculars. Not the same as a public magnet program.

All are paid by taxpayers.

Just for the sake of argument, I would have been totally ok if prom dates had been done by lottery. Us nerds were URMs as far as prom dates were concerned.

Whites prefer to do private one on one tutoring so that they can hide all the expensive private tutoring and point fingers at others for prepping.

All these are subsidized by booster club at out of pocket. My FCPS band program cost us $500/year 0 + fundraising

For us, we didn’t like the way admission was done before, thought it was unfair, do we didn’t apply, refused to participate. It’s not a right to attend.

Those who don’t like the way admission is going to be, or think it’s unfair, great!! You need not apply. It isn’t your right to attend. You should show them and teach them a lesson. Band together and fight. ”The school is going to be rated low, and run into the ground”. Ha! I love seeing people get so angry over an something so illogical. These threads are humorous to me

Well, if you are going that way, TJ partnership fund paid tens of millions of dollars for equipments and labs, furnitures etc. and a typical TJ parent donates hundreds of dollars to both the school and various clubs. In addition, attending one out of state debate tournament costs several hundred to thousands of dollars.

Do you have to pay to participate in school band and orchestra? Does that count towards a fine art credit? I know the various youth orchestras outside of the school systems are private funded via tuition. But school band?

Also wondering if students have to pay to play in district band or senior regional or all state orchestras/band?

Sorry, what about the spelling bee, do participate have to pay to compete? Who covers the cost of the various rounds of the bee?
