| We have a RAV 4. Helpful in the early years for diaper changing and portable potty use. Many friends had to use the back of our RAV 4 for those purposes when out and about! |
| I had an suv with no kids. I like being higher up. I never plan to own a sedan again. I got a three row suv when I was pregnant with my second. |
|
I am a first responder ( essential in all weathers) and have one kid and 2 dogs ( lab and shepherd)
I had a Honda Pilot for 7 years and loved it. I now have a Honda CRV and its been fine too. I needed the extra Cargo space in the Pilot to fit a stroller back there plus the two dogs. Now theres no stroller or other baby gear the CRV is fine. I don't like dogs on the seats. I like them in their own area. |
| We got an SUV after witnessing an accident between a compact car and an SUV. |
| Yes, love mine. |
| One child, one thirty pound dog. Love my Toyota SUV. We travel frequently (with our dog) so we absolutely need a SUV. Also, for carpool and driving child’s friends around. |
|
One child (age 3), midsize dog. A hatchback is perfect. Without the dog, a sedan would be fine too, though I have always preferred hatchbacks or wagons because they have better visibility and more storage.
Kids tend to accumulate stuff around them. If you get a big car, you will accumulate stuff to fill it. If you don’t, you won’t. I’m with your husband here. SUVs are not necessary. |
| I have one kid who is a teenager and I've never needed an SUV. A few times, I have borrowed my mom's SUV to pick up large loads but none of it child related. I have a Toyota Corolla and it has been perfect. |
| Don’t need one. But I love mine. Hard to go rock crawling in a civic. |
| We fill our SUV pretty fast with vacation luggage just to drive to the airport- especially when we pack travel car seats (we don’t check their “good” car seats on planes). We probably could have gotten by without an SUV or similar with one kid, definitely need it with two. I guess you could just get a car service for trips to the airport if needed though. |
|
Nope.
We have three kids (under 9) and they fit fine in a Toyota Camry. |
| No. Two teens, 1 dog. Never had an SUV or minivan. |
|
My wife had a Camry with first kid. The stroller and diaper bag and car seat ate up space so supermarket shopping is hard.
We have an Acadia now and three kids. Can’t go to mall or on vacation without SUV and we have roof rack. |
| An SUV is not needed. Your choice if that's what you want. Also recognize that if you do hit someone by accident you're a lot more likely to injure them badly or kill them. Think about if you want to take that risk every time you drive. |
| Nope -- had a sedan (mine) and a station wagon (spouse's) until baby #3 came along. |
