Anyone Use Pottery Barn Kids Nursery Furniture?

Anonymous
I bought a PBK changing table 17 years ago, used it for 4 kids, and was able to sell it afterwards since it still looked almost new.

I bought our crib through BBB. Can’t recall the brand.

I purchased beds and dressers through PBK over the years, and the quality is good. The furniture holds up.

We had a minicrib and a bookcase. They were nice but nothing that wowed me. Just get something at buy buy baby with the coupons they send out (you can use Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons there).

The dressers and cribs are nice. The chair and bookshelves are junk.

Yes, you can mix and match. We have the Larkin crib and Fillmore dresser. Both are Benjamin Moore Simply White and match perfectly. You can purchase paint in that color from anywhere that sells Benjamin Moore so you could actually easily take a secondhand piece of furniture and paint it the same color to match your PBK items.

I currently have the Sundvik white ikea changing table/dresser and it smells like formaldehyde (I’m pregnant so I can tell).

Thinking about getting the “Emerson Nursery Dresser“ with changing topper on top. can someone confirm that it doesn’t smell?

It came in a flat box and we had to assemble ourselves! If I wanted ikea type furniture, I would have gone to ikea!

Exactly.

This. Cheap furniture from Asia is loaded with formaldehyde. Especially the crib mattresses have strong fumes.

That smells will last maybe two days.

Ours was months.

We have a convertible crib, that is now a toddler bed for our almost 4 year old. We also have a dresser and a bookshelf. All of it has held up great! I think everything but the toddler bed will be usable through high school.

Some PBK furniture is made of veneers and MDF (medium density fiberboard) so those have formaldehyde too.

Just because it isn’t cheap doesn’t mean it’s non toxic.

What is the brand / model to avoid?

I'm a PP above who raved about the PBK furniture - but yes, this - my glider/recliner has never worked very well and the fabric has not held up well.

DP - my PBK recliner/ glider looks great (had it about 18 months - no pilling) but it is HARD to push the reclining lift back it and when you pull the lever to recline it is very loud/ jerky. If I had it to do over I’d go with a La Z Boy or someplace like that (they make cute, less over stuffed furniture these days!). After have a c-section it was miserable trying to get in and out of this thing — with a sleeping baby, no less! Also have a crib from PBK and so far so good.
