Somewhat healthy food treats?

We aren’t working on “milestones.” As I explained in my OP, we are working on basic, everyday things that kids without SN can do without a three hour melt down, like rinse your hair. Yes, I’m fine with giving her a gummy to avoid the three hour hour screaming fit.

I feel frustrated with the way many posters on DCUM can’t just answer the question and think they know better than OP and better than the professionals. But thank you to the people who offered suggestions to this tired mama!

Totally with you OP and sorry people were jerks. It drives me insane when people A) don't bother to fully read the OP and B) offer unsolicited advice that has nothing to do with your question. Obviously you trust your therapist which is why you're asking!

What about marshmallows?

Mini Kind bars. Not too many calories and ingredients I think are pretty decent.

Nilla wafers. Not healthy but only 15 cals per cookie.

I second the Bombas/peanut butter puff suggestion. A good thing about using these super low cal puff treats is that they don’t fill up in them. If you use food treats and have a good behavior day, you can get derailed because they fill up in treats and then won’t eat meals. At least the puffs don’t do that.

Using food is a slippery slope. IME therapists use picture schedules with a reward as one of the pictures. It’s usually a preferred activity.

What kind of therapist is suggesting food?

THIS. Why is no one else saying this?

Rx makes kids bars that are easy to eat, but I'd cut them into much smaller pieces as rewards.

What about fruit?

Frozen bananas pureed into "ice cream?"

Fruit leather/dried fruit/fruit strips (Trader Joe's makes some that are all fruit, for example)

Bombas

Fruit snacks/fruit gummies

Mini Reese's peanut butter cups

Mini cookies or mini muffins

Chocolate-covered almonds or fruit

Freeze-dried fruit

Does she like ice cream? Frozen bananas in the blender become really creamy and are amazing like ice cream. You can add caramel/chocolate syrup if you want to mix up the flavor

Animal crackers (they are basically graham crackers, but in fun animal shapes). I bribe my children with them daily. Highly recommend.

Stickers or stamps on a chart?

Same. Because they're such fun shapes, you might be able to get away with giving one at a time. That spreads out a serving over the course of an entire day, and so it's not too horrible health-wise.

That's It fruit bars are only fruit and they taste really good. I don't even like fruit leather but recommend these.
