Are people doing indoor playdates?

You do realize most people doing indoor play dates are not going to answer.

NO

Yes. It’s been fine.

How successful have your outdoor-only play dates been? We haven’t done any yet. I’m concerned about kids’ ability to social distance, and I could see things going south when they want to go play inside. Seems easier to just not right now.

No way. Outdoor only.

My middle schooler does outdoor ones. My elementary child does not have any.

There is no such thing as social distancing when you do a play date with ES aged kids - outdoor or not. You need to accept that or not do it. We haven’t had issues keeping everything outdoors- we just make sure to have plenty of play things out there before the play date starts. Masks are hit and miss- generally they are very good at keeping them on but they fall once in a while and of course they come off for water breaks

Ok I’ll bite. My teen has been hanging out inside all summer with a couple friends. My ES kid has just started some indoor play dates (they mostly stay outside but aren’t banned from coming in for short periods). If cases start to show signs of spiking, or if school issues metrics for in person, we will reevaluate.

In my circle, parents of teens are being much less restrictive.

We are doing indoor playdates, have been for the last couple of months. A quick count says we've had at least 11 different kids in the house. No issues and all parents have been fine with it. Kids are happy. DL would be intolerable if they didn't have the normal socialization opportunities at home.

We had our first indoor play date during the mcps lunch break, the day of the big rain storm last week. All kids were in masks.

We are not, but have gotten invites from a family where the parents are doctors for indoor play dates with masks.

I would not do it with a normal semi friend. But DS has 2 very good friends we are doing some pod-type stuff with; anything indoors for a portion of the 1.5 hours they are here would be with masks and supervised by an adult in the same room though.

Preference remains for outside (no masks) whenever possible.

No. Outdoor. And I only with the kids in the neighborhood.

My preschoolers have been doing it for a few months with one other family.

No, nor are we doing outdoor.
