Yes, like this, because I know the name from Xochitl tortilla chips, and they give the pronunciation on the bag.

Use it! It's a great Nahuatl name.

+1 I only think of the tortilla chips. Great chips!

I THINK it's zoh-chill but I could be wrong. I'd probably ask first.

Xochitl is the Siobhan of the Spanish-speaking world. People might not know how to pronounce it, but they'll learn and it's so memorable they won't forget it.

I hope this is a joke...TERRIBLE name. There’s another thread ridiculing the idea of Connor with one “N” because we aren’t in Ireland. And people think THIS is a good idea?
Anonymous
What difference does it make because it is such a terrible name that it amounts to child abuse.

The problem is that Xochitl will have to teach thousands of people over the course of her life how to pronounce it. What a nightmare. Don’t do this to an American kid.

Kso-shit. Sorry.

I know it's So-cheel because of the Congresswoman. I think if you have a lot of Spanish-speakers in your community it will be easier but your kid will definitely have to explain herself a lot.

I am in California and it's common among American kids. Sorry, but whatever place you live that apparently has no Latina population isn't representative of "American."

I'm Latina and have no idea how to pronounce it. Just like I'm sure there are Irish-Americans who have no idea how to pronounce Siobhan.
