It’s a wake-up call for you to toughen up, OP. I’ve been on the receiving side of casually mean comments on here, but I’ve also been thoughtlessly rude too (I try not to be, obviously). Remember that 99.9% of posters aren’t inhuman, but that anonymity and stress makes them appear that way. Many people come to vent on here or wish to discuss difficult topics. We all come with our prejudices and various worldviews, some of which are bound to be misunderstood. It’s OK that sparks fly sometimes. It would be impossible for them not to - we’re not unfeeling robots! |
+2. |
I don’t need to toughen up. This is simply just not the place for me to spend my downtime. I appreciate all those that also feel like a POS for the time they spend on here. I feel you. |
I'm glad! GOMI is a website called "Get Off My Internets" which seems mainly devoted to making viciously fun of mommy bloggers in really nasty ways, and this lady owns it. So yeah, I feel zero guilt about laughing at this lady. It always gives me a good chuckle, and there are lots of threads like this. I also like that there's very little moderation, so people can truly say what they want, though somtimes of course that leaves some people who are meaner than others |
Not everyone wants to "toughen up" which is DCUM code for "become a total antisocial asshole despised by all family members and service personnel I come into contact with." A lot of the stuff people say here is truly cruel- not lighthearted, not fun, just like the biggest douchebag you know trying to drag everyone else down. And karma is real, so it does boomerang, being a horrible person. It always amazes me how many DCUMers will talk about how miserable they are |
I totally agree with you OP. I’ve been shocked lately at the amount of hate on this site. Worse than normal. I get that the pandemic stresses people out, but wouldn’t it be cool if we could support each other rather than cutting each other down with such vile? Anyway, I’ve been spending time on various reddit communities...books, cooking, animals. It passes the time. |
I go to Reddit and look at subforums like: Duggarssnark (snark about the family with 19 kids) TeenmomOGandTeenmom2 (about the MTV franchise Teen Mom) AntiMLM DeadMalls |
I had never posted on this site before last month. I think I'd visited it a few times to investigate childcare options and school stuff. And now I am on here Every. Damn. Day. I think I'm just bored and craving more social stimulation. I don't hate it, but I also don't really think it satisfies me. I really just need a few tipsy dinner parties with friends and I'd be back to normal but who knows when that will be possible? |
I to do a slow wean. The people on here are evil. |
It’s addicting |
I just realized I have symptoms of arthritis in my hands. Serious question: Could browsing this site on my phone be causing it! |
Just post until you get yourself banned and the distraction won't be available anymore |
Describing my favorite subreddits over here. Duggars and MLM snark are my passion. |
