JMU Sending Students Home

Anonymous
I am guessing local authorities want to stop the spread fast by getting rid of all the students -- Hopefully, students will get tested when they return home

This!!! Why on earth didn't they do tjis?!?!

Even the federal government recommended universities keep positive cases on campus instead of sending them to their hometowns. This college mess and the many others brewing are going to spike the heck out of this country

They should keep students on campus and try to keep infection rate down; not send them home to infect the community

yeah, isn't that how Notre Dame flattened their curve?

Notre Dame is an elite filthy rich private school; JMU is a broke public degree mill

If the college wants kids on campus, they have to be prepared to see it all the way through - not have kids on campus, get infection rates up, and then send infected kids back to their communities. This is absolutely the worst thing they can do.

Yes, let’s go ahead and scatter those new infections far and wide. Great idea!

Are these cases counted in the VA daily numbers of positive cases?

You remember back in late February when that one hospital in Italy discovered they had a couple cases, so they evacuated the entire hospital instead of locking it down? Remember how that literally destroyed their nation? That’s exactly what colleges are doing.

What happened in Italy was horrible. But please use more accurate language.

+1

Quarantine these kids in nearby hotels. That's what advanced countries do.

That's what Palestine does FFS. Why can't we?

Colorado College is doing the same thing - sending kids home, everything online just days after arriving on campus.. Talk about a rich school with lots of wide open spaces. It could happen anywhere.

Colorado appears to have been forced by the Health Department.

Colleges want to limit their liability by getting rid of the sick kids. Can you imagine the uproar if kids a deathly ill in a dorm room or someone dies on campus.

Aside from research university with a med school, most colleges have no experience with running a field hospital/medical ward.

So is it being suggested to students that live in off-campus apartments to go home too?

Notre Dame will continue to do well until they open back up, then cases will slowly begin to rise again.
Have they learned nothing since March?

Do you expect them to build a few $100M dorms overnight to house everyone who needs to quarantine?
