| She's one of them |
Pathetic. She is such a weak mayor. She should give the teachers a choice: go to work or be fired. She is going to be remembered as the mayor who banned kids from going to school, even when hardly anyone had coronavirus. |
Again, when most of the private schools are also virtual, your vitriol doesn’t make sense. She doesn’t have any authority over the private schools. |
Serious question - why wouldn’t she have the staffing to open hybrid? I am genuinely asking why they couldn’t do say, every other day with synchronous learning for the off days. Wouldn’t that be better than all virtual, esp given how many kids in dc are low income and without good virtual set up? Does she need MORE staff or just current staff wouldn’t show up? |
Private schools are opening. Daycares are open. Camps are open. Public schools that are closed supposedly because of coronavirus are offering child care in the very same schools. And for Pete’s sake, look at the coronavirus numbers. Hardly anyone has coronavirus in DC. Why on earth are schools closed? It makes no sense. |
Obviously gyms and restaurants and stores are open. Apparently it’s not too risky for them. |
*Some* private schools are open. Most are not. And the childcare at public schools is being discussed but there are no solid plans yet. |
+1. Because we’re being held hostage by our government |
| Who is running against her? This is the problem. |
Bowser is destroying her reputation with how she is handling this school issue. |
+1 And they eat three meals a day together. |
She is a weak mayor |
| Bowser is the biggest clown in politics today, at any level. The fact that people still support her shows that party affiliation, and race, are all anyone cares about (and this is both sides so shame on all of us). |
| I think DCPS teachers are on the whole great. Not sure what you think is a problem? My kids were at a top private and we moved them to DCPS for accelerated classes, which DCPS delivered. What do you feel is missing? |
The positivity rate in DC is 1.6 percent. Health officials say the positivity rate must be below 5 percent for schools to open safely. Why aren’t schools in DC open? https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/testing/testing-positivity |
