Expectant and Postpartum Moms
FWIW, I like Dr Lightfoot. I'm not sure why others don't. But not everyone's tastes are alike.
I agree about Dr. Engel - we followed him. He is a great doctor and a very caring person. The advice he has given me regarding my health is always thorough and takes into account psychology, motivation, how to feel my best. He is a good professional and human being and is not afraid to show that in his work.
I love Drs. Pardo, Lightfoote, and Stany. Both Drs. Pardo and Lightfoote took lots of time to talk to me about complications during my pregnancy, and the first time I met Dr. Stany was at Sibley when I was in labor, and she was fabulous. If you don't get along with Lightfoote, at least try out Drs. Pardo and Stany.
Here's a question: what if you stay with the practice, but the doc who delivers you b/c they are on call does not take your insurance? ask the practice--will they take the out of network reimbursement, or will you be responsible for further charges?
I decided to leave the practice. Although I didn't dislike any of the doctors there and have no reason to think they are anything but capable, I didn't feel compelled to stay once Beckerman and Sarafian left. I felt more comfortable with doctors with more experience and the reality was that I wouldn't have chosen a practice comprised of Lightfoote, Pardo, and Stany if It was newly pregnant. I'd hardly seen the other 3 docs throughout my pregnancy, so I didn't see what the big deal was in changing practices. Good luck with your decision.
OP here, I have decided to stay with the practice and have the baby at Sibley. I have 2 months left in my pregnancy and I just don't have the energy to find a new doctor. I called BCBS and they will not let me follow Dr. Sarafian even though that is the only doctor I ever saw up till now. They are willing to cover 70% of the visit but I would be responsible for the rest. I have never even seen the newest doctor ever. I met Dr. Pardo once and I am hoping she will deliver my baby.
I don't know what everyone's problem with Lightfoote is. I think she's great. She did my c-section and knows all her patients names, kids names, etc.... none of the other docs do. Beckerman is my usual dr and I'm staying with him but I think Lightfoote is such a breath of fresh air, I'd be completely happy with her delivering my baby again.
Lightfoote has been my GYN for three years and I really like her a lot, she was reccomended by my old doctor in another state who I really respected and trusted. However, now that I am pregnant again (23 weeks) I am seriously considering switching to a midwife practice. It not that I think she is a bod doctor, but I could see myselg clashing with her over my delivery. Unless really medically indicated (as in the baby is about to die), I really do not want any medical interventions and I get the sense from the way she responds to my questions that she has a set idea of how things should go.
